Sustainable Development Goals

Australia is a signatory to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (PDF), which includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The SDGs form a roadmap for global development efforts to 2030 and beyond. Each goal has a set of indicators to help measure progress.

BITRE reports data against the following indicators for Goal 3 and Goal 9:

The Department is also responsible for two additional indicators 11.2.1 and 11.a.1 for which no data is currently available. The National Cities Performance Framework provides related information on Australia's largest cities.

  • Indicator 11.2.1 Proportion of population that has convenient access to public transport, by sex, age and persons with disabilities.
This is similar to the Dwellings with access to public transport indicator in the National Cities Performance Framework.

  • Indicator 11.a.1 Proportion of population living in cities that implement urban and regional development plans integrating population projections and resource need, by size of city.
This is a Tier III indicator, meaning that internationally established methodology and standards are not yet available.
