The Paper presents statistics on road expenditure by State and Territory, by level of government, by year and by Commonwealth road funding category. A consistent series of road expenditure statistics and information on State road revenue was first presented in BTE Information Paper 3, Australian Road Financing Statistics 1970-71 to 1979-80. The statistics were updated in BTE Information Paper 11 and BTE Information Paper 14. This Paper provides statistics for 1983-84 and earlier years. Some of the statistics for earlier years have been revised.
